QR Code Setup and Tracking Guide
This guide explains how to create, style, and track QR Codes within the Convirza platform. A QR code (Quick Response code) is a two-dimensional barcode that can store various types of data, often used in marketing, product tracking, and other applications.
Navigation
To access QR Code settings:
Go to the Left Panel → QR Codes in the Convirza platform.
Part 1: Enabling QR Code Scan Tracking on Your Website
For QR codes to be tracked accurately (especially Conventional QR Codes), your website must have the Convirza tracking script installed.
If you’re using a URL-Routed QR Code, you can skip this section.

Option 1: Using the DNI Script (Recommended)
If your website already uses the Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI) script, no extra setup is required.
QR code scans will be automatically tracked and attributed to your DNI leads.
Option 2: Add Only QR Code Tracking
If you’re not using the DNI script, you can still enable basic scan tracking by adding a dedicated script to your website.
Important: This option tracks scans only. It does not support lead tracking or dynamic number replacement. To track leads, use the full DNI script (Option 1).
Steps:
- Go to QR Codes in the Convirza platform.
- Find the section “Enable QR Code Scan Tracking on Your Website.”
- Click Copy Code to copy the tracking script.
- Paste this script inside the <head> tag of the destination page’s HTML (the page where your QR code leads).
Part 2: Creating a QR Code
Follow these steps to create a new QR code in Convirza.
Step 1: Define QR Details
- In QR Codes, click Create.
- On the QR Details page, fill in the required fields and click Next.
Name: A descriptive name (e.g., “August Magazine Ad”).
QR Code Type: Choose one:
Conventional – for pages using dynamic numbers (requires tracking setup in Part 1).
URL-Routed – redirects to a specific URL and tracks scan events.
Link: Enter the full destination URL.
Description: Optional notes (e.g., campaign or placement details).
Step 2: Style the QR Code

On the QR Styling page, customize the visual design:
- Dots Options: Change dot shape and color.
- Corner Squares: Adjust corner square color.
- Corner Dots: Customize the shape and color inside corner squares.
- Background: Change background color.
- Image Options: Add a logo or image to the center, and adjust size or margin.
A live preview will update automatically on the right side as you make changes.
Step 3: Test and Finalize
- Scan and test the QR code before saving to ensure it redirects correctly.
- Once confirmed, click Update (or Save).
Important: Once a QR code is saved, it cannot be edited.
To make changes, create a new QR code.
Part 3: Viewing Existing QR Codes and Reports
View Individual QR Codes
- Click any QR code from your list to open its details page.

You can:
- Edit: Update only the Name and Description fields.

- View Analytics: See performance metrics like Total Scans, QR Leads, and breakdowns by region or device.

View QR Code Reports

- Go to the Reports section in Convirza.
- Select QR Report from the dropdown.
- The dashboard displays key metrics:
- Total Scans: How many times your QR codes were scanned.
- QR Leads: Number of leads generated (available only with DNI Script).
- Scans by Region: Geographic data of scans.
- Scans by Device: Device types used (e.g., mobile manufacturer).
- Scans Over Time: Chart showing activity across a selected period.
Detailed QR List Table

The report also includes a detailed table showing performance per QR code:
- QR Code ID – Internal identifier
- QR Code Name – The name you assigned
- Group Name – Group the QR belongs to
- Total Scans – Number of times it was scanned
- QR Type – Conventional or URL-Routed
Use the Filters option to adjust date range or parameters for deeper insights.
Tip: Always test your QR codes by scanning and viewing reports before deployment to ensure correct redirection and data tracking.
FAQs:
1. Why use Conventional QR codes instead of URL QR codes?
Conventional QR codes work with Convirza’s Dynamic Number Insertion (DNI) tracking system. This means that when someone scans your QR code, their activity is automatically tracked, including the number of scans, the type of device used, and their location.
If they later call a Convirza tracking number on your website, that call DNI data will be linked back to the original QR scan.On the other hand, URL QR codes take people to a webpage and don’t give you this kind of tracking or lead information, but it will show you the basic scan analytics.
2. Can you see who scanned the QR code?
You can view general information, including the number of times your QR code was scanned, the type of device used, and the region where the scan occurred.
However, you can’t see the person’s information just from the scan. You’ll only know who they are if they call your tracking number after scanning (If using Conventional QR code); in that case, the call data will be connected to that QR scan in your Convirza reports.
