Number Porting FAQ’s

What is number porting?

Number porting is the process of transferring a phone number from one carrier to another. For Convirza to track a number, it must be routed through our carrier.

Is my phone number portable?

Under federal law, most mobile and landline phone numbers can be transferred between carriers. However, there are some limitations:

  • Not Recommended: Porting your main business line to Convirza is discouraged because Convirza does not support 911 location services or PBX functionalities.
  • Unsure? Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

What information is needed for porting a number?

To determine if your number is portable:

  1. Contact your current provider: This could be your phone carrier, an ad agency, or another call-tracking company.
  2. Obtain necessary documents: Your provider may require a porting PIN, invoice, or both to release the number.
  3. Keep the number active: Numbers must remain active with your current provider during the porting process. Canceling the service will render the number non-portable.

What are the Convirza porting requirements?

To port a number to Convirza, the following are required:

  • Convirza service plan: Active subscription to any Convirza service.
  • Portable number: US or Canadian-based toll-free or local phone number.
  • Signed Letter of Authorization (LOA): A signed and dated Convirza LOA.
  • Number Port Order Form: Include details for all lines being ported.
  • Recent bill or Customer Service Record (CSR): A copy of the most recent bill or CSR from your current provider.

What are the steps for porting?

  1. Initiate the port:
    • Send all required documents (LOA, Port Order Form, recent bill/CSR) to telecom@convirza.com.
  2. Port request submission:
    • Convirza submits the port request to our carrier.
  3. Approval or rejection:
    • Approval: Includes the Firm Order Commitment (FOC) date, which specifies when the number will transfer.
    • Rejection: Includes the reason for rejection. Convirza will share the details with you and assist in resolving any issues for resubmission.
  4. Provisioning:
    • Approved numbers are provisioned in the Convirza application in anticipation of the port date.
    • Routes are built using the information from the Number Port Order Form.
  5. Number porting completion:
    • On the FOC date, the number is successfully ported, and calls will start appearing in the Convirza application.
